Abstract

Interpretation of the Quran as a method for discovering the inner meanings of the divine word has a special place in the mystical tradition. In this article, we examine and analyze the mystical views of Ayn al-Ghozat-e-Hamadānī (6th century AH) on the interpretation of the Quran, and we also explain the difference between her views and traditional interpretations. Using a systematic framework, Ayn al- Ghozat's interpretations are divided into two main categories: "declarative" and "peripheral," including the visual, evidential, and ijtihadic subcategories, and examples of her mystical interpretations of the verses of the Quran are analyzed. Specific and documented examples of mystical and symbolic interpretations of Quranic verses are cited as evidence. Finally, the epistemological and mystical dimensions of the meanings of the Quran and ways to access its "brain" and inner being are discussed. By criticizing the interpretive approach and providing suggestions for future research, the article suggests new ways to understand the depth of Quranic knowledge..
