[English]

The presence of Turks in Azerbaijan and the prevalence of the Turkish language there is one of the important historical and linguistic topics in the history of Iran. The fact that the people of Azerbaijan used to speak an Iranian language before the spread of Turkish today is an inviolable principle in the history of Iranian languages. We know that Seljuk Turks entered Azerbaijan for the first time and slowly spread their language there as well. Drawing the historical influence of Turks and Turkish language in Azerbaijan can clarify the language change process in this part of Iran. In this article, we have used three Persian texts of the 7th century, two of them were selected from Azerbaijan and one from Shiraz. With the help of the documents that we have extracted from these three texts, we have shown that Turks increased in Azerbaijan in the 7th century But the Azerbaijanis considered them foreigners.
Introduction:
Materials and Methods:
Using literary texts for historical research is one of the research methods in history. In the same way, we examined three texts from the seventh century and tried to extract evidence from these texts by citing. With the help of those evidences, we analyzed the issue of the presence of Turks in Azerbaijan.
Results and Discussion:
Scientific researches about the prevalence of Turkish in Azerbaijan have clarified many issues in this regard, However, the search to draw the path of gradual Turkish influence and the exclusion of Azeri still needs more investigation and research. We know that Turkish was a foreign language in Azerbaijan in the fifth century, but determining the Turkish situation in the following centuries requires research. For this reason, in this article, we show the Turkish situation in Azerbaijan with evidence from the 7th century. Our evidence shows that in the 7th century, Turkish was a foreign language in Azerbaijan and Turks were foreign people. Our evidences are taken from the book Ajaib al-Dunya by Ibn Muhaddith Tabrizi, Diwan Homam Tabrizi and Ghazliyat of Saadi.
In Ajaib al-Dunya, there is a clear comment about the Turks, which is valuable and important from a Tabrizi in the seventh century. His comments about Turks show that he does not consider himself or his fellow citizens to be Turks at all. The documents from Divan Homam show that Turks were considered foreign elements in Azerbaijan in the 7th century. He clearly differentiates between Turks and his fellow citizens. According to Saadi's ghazals, Turks are a foreign people who entered Iran from Khorasan and have no connection with Azerbaijan.
Conclusion:
Based on the book Ajaib al-Dunya, we find that the number of Turks increased in Azerbaijan in the 7th century of Hijri, However, the people of Azerbaijan considered them as foreigners who were conquered by force and oppression. Also, Ibn Muhaddith Tabrizi's opinion about the Turks in the seventh century shows that Tabrizians not only did not consider themselves Turks but also hated the Turks very much. Divan Homam also shows that in the eyes of this poet Tabrizians were not Turks in that period. In fact, Homam's knowledge of Turks follows the same ancient poetic tradition in Persian literature. In addition to the evidences that were selected from the texts related to the geography of Azerbaijan, We also chose Saadi's sonnets as an authentic text in the 7th century to show the situation of the Turks in that period. Based on this text, the Turks are foreign elements that entered Iran from the East and Khorasan, and Saadi has put this obvious belief in the beginning of one of his sonnets.
