Many mystics have tried to express their intentions and purposes through stories and anecdotes, thereby presenting difficult and subtle mystical points in a simple and understandable content. Among these, the story of Sheikh San'an, composed by Attar of Nishapur, stands out due to its deep mystical concepts presented in a lyrical narrative where disbelief and faith, and external and internal journeys are intertwined, creating a magnificent epic. As it is expected that re-reading ancient texts based on contemporary literary theories helps the reader discover the dark and silent corners of the text and opens a new horizon for their understanding of the text, in this study, the story of Sheikh San'an is analyzed using the descriptive-analytical method with Christopher Vogler's Hero's Journey model, which presents the overall structure of the hero's journey in three acts and twelve stages. This is done to determine the capability of traditional storytellers and the potential of their works in facing a global theory and to examine the extent of this model's applicability. The research results show that the main lines of the story of Sheikh San'an align with the writer's journey model, except in the stage of refusing the call. Additionally, slight differences in the stages of the ordinary world and meeting with the mentor can be justified considering the flexibility of Vogler's model; although the reason for this can be traced back to some dissimilarities between the mystical and mythological hero.
